Lunch Menus

Healthy Lunchtimes

Here at Netherton Moss it is important to us that we do the very best for your child and this includes the food we give them.

As you may be aware, from January 2015, the Government has introduced New Food Standards for school food, underpinned in legislation by ‘The Requirements for School Food Regulations 2014’. The new standards were developed by the ‘School Food Plan Standards Expert Panel’ and advised by ‘The Children’s Food Trust’s’ (CFT) nutrition team.

In order to ensure that our menus comply with the new standards, they have been developed in conjunction with the nutritionists at the CFT via their menu checking service. The CFT have nutritionally analysed not only our new menus, but also the recipes that are used, the cooking methods and the food that is purchased. Sefton is the first council in the country to follow this process for our primary school menus. To reflect this work, our menus will now carry the CFT menu checked logo.

OUR EXCITING NEW MENU TO HELP KEEP YOUR CHILDREN HEALTHY’

With effect from 1st September 2014, all children in the infant classes (Reception, Year 1 and Year 2) are entitled to a free dinner, every day, so there is no need to bring a packed lunch to school. If your child prefers sandwiches, there is a range of these on offer in the canteen on a daily basis.

However, if your child is in the infants and would normally be entitled to free school meals, we still require you to complete an application form as there are other funding grants available to the school based on these figures.  Accessing this money means that we can enhance your child’s education by giving them more opportunities during the school year.

If you think your child is entitled to receive a free meal at lunchtimes, just complete the application form below and forward it to the Town Hall in Bootle.  Alternatively, you can hand the form in at the school office, where it can be emailed to you.
