Clover Year 3

Welcome to Clover Class !

Year 3

Remote Learning January 2021

Happy New Year to you all and I hope you have had a good Christmas. This is not quite the start to the Spring term that we all hoped for, but we will do our best to keep things as "normal" as possible over the coming weeks whilst we have remote learning in place.

As you may know, the children in Clover Class are split in different groups for maths and literacy. Each day, we will post work for the various groups in additional to any workbooks or worksheets in the home learning packs. We will indicate which teacher the work has been set by so that the children know which work they should be completing.  I will also post general science/topic work for the class.

If you have any queries about any of the content, please do not hesitate to contact us via email on : fwashington@nethertonmoss.co.uk

jchristian@nethertonmoss.co.uk

jbenham@nethertonmoss.co.uk

We will try to get back to you as soon as possible.

The fifth book is the book of Deuteronomy. This book talks about Moses, the Israelites and their ancestors and their relationship with God. Today we will be looking at one story from Genesis and one story from Deuteronomy.

Watch this YouTube video explaining The Creation Story from Genesis:

Write the sentences below in your green book. After the sentence I want you to write if the underlined word/phrase is an adjective, speech, adverb or preposition. Use the links from previous days to remind you what they mean if you need to.

For example:

  • A dog ran past the classroom. Preposition.

Your sentences:

  • “How high can you jump?” Asked Freddie.
  • The fluffy dog looked at me expectantly.

  5. After school I am going to the park.

Now it is time to write the resolution of your story! This is not quite the ending to your story, so don’t end it just yet. In this section you need to make sure any problems are solved. Think about how those problems were solved, if Tom has learnt anything from his experience during the problem and how Tom and Lilly feel now that the problem is over.

Mrs Washington's Literacy Group

Your writing task today will be to write the next stage of your story, the problem. As we have done for the past couple of days, we will complete some activities before we begin writing. The problem is the main part of your story, and is where most of the action will happen. This means that you will be using verbs (an action or doing word) and can improve your sentences by using adverbs! An adverb is a word that describes a verb.

Firstly, visit the following BBC Bitesize page. Watch the video and complete the activity and quiz.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/topics/zwwp8mn/articles/zgsgxfr

Next, write down the following sentences in your green exercise book. Where I have left a gap, I would like you to fill it with an adverb.

  • The girl ran ________ away from the monsters.
  • She spoke _________ to her mum.
  • Bill plays the piano _________.
  • The waves crashed _________ at the beach.
  • He ate the chocolate cake __________.

After that, write out the following sentences. When you have written the sentences, circle the adverb.

  • She angrily slammed the car door.
  • He gently woke up the sleeping baby.
  • She jumped excitedly on the bouncy castle.
  • The dog ran happily towards his owner.

Now it is time to write the problem section of your story. Do this in your green exercise book. Don’t forget to add some adverbs to this part of your story.

Mrs Christian's Literacy Group

Please follow the instructions on Day 6 of your plan.  Complete your handwriting, then your spellings, then your new sound.  After that you need to write instructions on how to ride a bike safely.  Do this in your exercise book.  Use the worksheet to help you with your ideas.  Write the full date, think of a title and write numbered instructions.  Remember to use capital letters, full stops, best handwriting and finger spaces.

Mrs Windsor's RWInc Group

Please watch today's set 2 sound RWInc video on  Youtube  via the following link https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCo7fbLgY2oA_cFCIg9GdxtQ

You could write about your favourite toy or you could write an adventure story about the boy and his robot.

We have a new active personal challenge for this week. How many times can you pass a ball/toy/sock around your waist in 30 seconds? Try and improve your score as the week goes on!

Have a good day. Stay safe and take care

Thursday 8th October

Buenos dias Clover Class,

I hope you are all doing okay ? Please find below some additional resources to help with your home learning today.

In school we have recently started learning about the country, Egypt, in preparation for our Ancient Egypt topic. The BBC bitesize website has some great information about Ancient Egypt , so why not try and do a bit of research using this website. You could write down some interesting facts to share with the whole class when we are back in school. Please find the link below

https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/topics/zg87xnb

You could also try practising your spellings? Your pack should have a small yellow book where you can practise them in.

For those children in Mrs Washington's and Mrs Christian's maths groups don't forget about TTRockstars- a great way of practising times tables. Your login details are in your home learning pack.

Mrs Benham's maths group could try playing helicopter rescue on Top Marks . This is a great game for numbers to 100.  See the link below:

https://www.topmarks.co.uk/learning-to-count/helicopter-rescue

Don't forget that it's important to have time away from the computer screens too!

Active Personal Challenge Week 1: How many times can you jump two footed, side to side over a line/cones/stick etc, in 30 seconds? I'm up to 52 jumps (over a line)  but I'm sure many of you have beaten that already smiley

Take care

Mrs Washington

11th September 2020

The children have just completed their first full week back in school and are coping really well with our new school routines like  handwashing/sanitising throughout the day,  and year group bubbles.  We had our first PE sessions this week and we will continue to do as many of these outdoors as long as the weather permits.

I have attached a copy of our Autumn term topic letter below to outline what we will be doing in school this term. If you have any questions , please don't hesitate to contact me via email on fwashington@nethertonmoss.co.uk.

Autumn 2020 Topic Letter

29th August 2020

Hi Clover Class,

We are looking forward to seeing you all back in school on Thursday 3rd September. We have been working hard over the last few weeks to get the classroom ready for you all, following a couple of months of building work in school . We have added a few pictures below .

Each child will have their own pencil case with the pencils/rubbers/rulers etc that they need and will stay in a Year 3 bubble for most of the day , including for lunch and playtimes.  There will be an increased focus on hygiene and children will asked to wash their hands regularly throughout the school day. We will also be wiping down surfaces in the classroom during the school day. We ask that children do not bring any items such as toys or pencil cases  in from home with them .

School will be operating staggered start and finishing times for each year group .

Year 3 will start at 8.45am and finish at 2.50pm each day with the children entering and leaving through the Year 3 door ( right next door to Year 2).

If you have any questions about the return to school, please do not hesitate to email  fwashington@nethertonmoss.co.uk.

See you all on Thursday.

Mrs Washington & Mrs Windsor
